Third Executive Breakfast Briefing: EU platform on public and private sector dialogue on AFRICA, 27th October 2015

On 27th October Schuman Associates organized the Third Executive Breakfast Briefing, which addressed the role and opportunities for the private sector in EU Africa cooperation programmes under the 11th EDF during 2015 and new EU Financial instruments (Agrifi, Electrifi and Africa Trust Fund). The event built on the outcomes of the first and second EEAS/DG DEVCO Schuman Executive Briefings in 2014 and key developments since then.

Training on EU funding for Public Affairs Council

On October 2nd, Lene Topp from Schuman Associates conducted a tailored training on EU funding for corporations and trade associations for selected members of the Public Affairs Council. During the training the participants obtained an understanding of EU funding and why it matters as well as insights on how to position and tender for funds managed by the European Commission.

Luncheon discussion in Brussels for the visit of Irish Minister of European Affairs and Data Protection

On 18th March 2015, Schuman Associates and Enterprise Ireland co-organised a high-level luncheon discussion in Brussels for the visit of Irish Minister of European Affairs and Data Protection, Mr. Dara Murphy for the occasion of St. Patrick's Day.

Senior members of the Irish and Belgian business community were invited to contribute in a discussion around improving the relations between Belgium and Ireland and how Irish business can better succeed in Europe.

 

Lithuanian Presidency: Panel Discussion on Smart Regulation for SMEs

On 29 October Schuman Associates together with the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union and the international audit and accounting network BDO organised a Panel Discussion on Smart Regulation for SMEs, attended by Brussels based European business organisations, representatives of companies from around Europe, EU institutions and diplomats. The event focused on the impact of regulation to medium sized enterprises in Europe and possible ways to reduce regulatory burden.

Surface Engineering Gala Dinner and Awards 2014

Schuman Associates participated in the Surface Engineering Gala Dinner and Awards 2014, the biennial event that recognizes, rewards and celebrates excellence in all branches of surface finishing in the U.K. The prestigious awards ceremony was hosted by Lord Hoyle and Mr. Dave Elliott, CEO of the Surface Engineering Association (SEA) and President of the European Committee for Surface Treatment (CETS).

Novelties and Challenges for the New Commission

Brussels has been buzzing all week with the expected news of the Commissioners designate and their portfolios. Despite earlier ‘leaks’ the eventual official announcement by Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker brought some surprises. AME - Anti Money Laundering Europe seminar co-hosted by MEP Dr Krisjanis Karins and Mr Christophe Zeeb, EESC Member

On 3rd December Schuman Associates, which acts as a secretariat of AME- Anti Money Laudering Europe, organized a lunch seminar at the European Economic and Social Committee. The event was Co-hosted by MEP Dr Krisjanis Karins and Mr Christophe Zeeb, EESC Member. Speakers included DG Markt, the Lithuanian Presidency and MEP Judith Sargentini, co- rapporteur of the 4th AML Directive.

Schuman Associates organised “Financing mid-sized companies for growth” seminar in the European Parliament

On 27th November 2013, Danish MEP Bendt Bendtsen co-hosted a breakfast briefing in the European Parliament with BDO International. The briefing on access to finance for European companies focused on the specific needs of the European mid-sized companies with regards to funding as well as generally addressing their challenges when it comes to growth.
